| Stray Cats haven't generated any new studio material, save for Mystery Train Kept a-Rollin', for 15 years. Their most successful days were 25 years ago. Clearly, the tours are well-received by their fans, but if they aren't motivated to record new material, why trot out a reunion tour with the same material year after year? How artistically satisfying would that be for them? Lee Rocker has been finding his way with some great solo albums for the last decade, and Brian Setzer has carved out an extremely prolific solo career as well. They are passionate about what they do creatively. And yet, they continue to be asked over and over "When are the Stray Cats gonna get back together?" As proud as they should be for what they've created outside Stray Cats, it has to be a mixed bag to have that overshadowed by their work with Stray Cats.
So, they've done a very generous thing, which is to give the fans one last chance to see them live, and provided fair warning to avoid any regrets along the lines of "I wish I would have seen them when I had the chance." Now you have the chance. Go see 'em and send 'em off with Cat Class and Cat Style.

I agree (as ever) with Rick; but some new original songs and a new cd would be welcome. It doesn't mean each member would give up their own solo career. FrenchyCat | |
