sorry everyone, I couldn't resist Defiantly? I think you mean definetly.. Besides, this is the Stray Cats section, so the post was in right place. I haven't had the chance to smell the Stray Cats, so i don't know if they stink or not. I have BSO and Brian's solo albums, but somehow there is a bigger chance of finding a Stray Cats album on my turntable/CD player than there is a chance of finding a BSO or solo album. But "Rock this town", "Stray Cat Strut", "Sexy and 17", "Fishnet stockings", "Gene and Eddie", "I won't stand in your way", "look at that Cadillac", "Hot rod gang", "Rumble in Brighton", "Storm the embassy" are the ones that are on my list of faves.. "Runaway boys" is good too.

| It's not that Runaway Boys is my fave, it's just that it started it all off. Plus which it clearly wasn't Rockabilly. Whilst RTT was arguable, and the first album was full of a mish mash, yet still got rated as a 'rockabilly' revival(i HATE that word) album. Still Runaway Boys had the rawest energy ever, it didn't follow a rigid drum beat with fills in exact places, Jim messed around with it, and it sounded messy yet clean??? If i'm talkin' shit here, pour me a Glenlivet and send me to bed guys. Nah! Runaway Boys summed up an attitude of a new era...the'80's starts here...
Now what are they gonna do in 1981.... i'm waiting???
Mikey stuckinthe80's -a billy
Thought - 1980 was 28 years ago Thought - in 1980, 28 years ago was 1952 - Rockabilly wasn't yet invented!!! (oh shit what have I opened here? I beg to differ, the first rockabilly record was recorder in 1872 by Caveman billy and his dwelling rebels????)

| Hey keniagonzalez,
Effin oath, that IS one cool song! It's layout makes it perfect to twist, bend and mold into a million and one different ways to play it without it sounding dated! Today's songs with chord progreesions that lead to nowhere and chord changes for the sake of having them just doesn't cut it. Even songs by Zep, Hendrix, Bad Company etc aren't overly complex in their structure, that's the reason they stand the test of time! Enjoy the REAL music young man! Cheers Pete.
P.S. No need to analyze this Mikey, OK? hahaha!!

| Most of the songs on the first album (Stray Cats) are pretty straight forward progressions. Throw in a couple of jazzy maj and dim chords and you're there:-) The stuff gets complicated (at least to me) when the fingerpicking begins I agree that Runaway Boys is good, but it doesn't mean that much to me as Rock this town or Stray cat strut, simply because RTT and STT were the first Stray Cats songs i heard.. Sure you can take RAB in any direction you want, but that can be done with the Strut as well (take strat2caster's family version on Youtube or even the great one done by thebrooke at the same place as examples). | |

Have you heard of this new band called AC/DC? Im gonna stop right now..... But, it's a shame you can't make it over here for the gigs. I'm guessing i'd like hooking up with you Peter!!! | Hey Mikey, Ya not gonna believe this BUT my friend Jorge plays in one of Adelaide's premier AC/DC covers band BON'ALL. They do the Bon Scottt era stuff, so I DO know who AC/DC is!! We'll be jammin' with him on Sat Nite, and just to prove it to you, I'm gonna put it up on youtube! You're right, I am a bit of a Rocker as those bands where influenced by the same bands as the Cats. They just took it a different direction, but it's still all REAL music! And lastly, yes I'd hook up with ya for a beer! Especially if you're shouting!! Cheers Pete. P.S. If ya win the Lottery, I'm expecting a ticket over!!

This is the old 'ooooh I have afriend in your City of 10,000 people, could you know him?'! Pete, you either DO know Fish or you don't, cos he's a character. He has a business in Adelaide. He DJ's on local radio (don't know which channel, could find out) and he has a duo called Aquarelle! His real name is Daren Herring. His mom named him with one 'r' in Daren as atribute to Bobby Darin (true)! He has a pet fish called Eric and a cockroach called james I made the last bit up!!! Mikey Australiabilly
