Hey Rob,

How could you NOT mention that camper in the background?! She's a sweetheart!

Are those tailfins on top? What's the inside look like?

And what's the black car "hiding" behind the ladder? Another project, or parts? Looks like you have a whole yard full of goodies!

Hey Bear....
A wave to you from the southern shore of Lake Winnebago! Nice to know that there's other cheeseheads around on the boards!

Take care,

Yeah...I've got a list of "projects" as long as my arm....the wagon, the jeep, that 1957 Plymouth Savoy (remember the 1983 John Carpenter movie, "Christine"?), a 1968 Dodge Dart convert with 440 V-8, and the 1964 Shasta Compact...pics are here:

https://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v629/ghostsoldier/1964%20Shasta%20Compact/

One of these days, maybe I'll get 'em all done....meanwhile, I'm always looking for more! What a Face

Pete...these little wagons came with small V-8's as an option, but mine started life as an inline-6...what you don't see in the pic is the brand new V-8 suspension, power brake master cylinder and disc brake conversion I performed on it, to keep it safe on the road... Cool

Hot Rod Girl,

Right back at ya! Greetings from Shawano, nestled between the mighty Wolf River and scenic Shawano Lake.

Nice Chevelle! Shame you can't race it - I'll bet it's still pretty nice for cruisin' with the top down, though.

Nice to meet you. GO PACK!!!

Good grief. Christine! Plymouth Fury! Scary, scary stuff. The book and the movie both gave me nightmares for ages. If I think about it for too long now, I still get the creeps. (yeah, I have an overactive imagination that gets the best of me sometimes).

Car projects are fun. It's good to get dirty, because there's nothing like the rumble of a well-tuned engine! The Chevelle is our project car, and she's in need of a new paint job, a new gas tank (it leaks right at the base of the spout. Can't put more than 1/2 tank or it winds up on the ground. At $4 a gallon, and 9 mpg, who can waste it? Smile ) We have the 350 in it currently, the big block is basically a oversized paper weight hanging out in the garage waiting to be rebuilt. Unfortunately, we had some timing issues (a very long, sad, story), and wound up doing a little rod damage. It'll hopefully be rebuilt this summer and then we'll drop that puppy back in and be ready to go. The hubby just finished putting a new posi rear end on last fall. Whoooo weee, that makes it just that much more fun to drive. We used to run it at the drag strip in GA when we were living there, but now that we're back home in WI, we can't run it at WIR w/o a roll cage. I don't even think we can run it at any of the strips around here w/o the cage. Too much of a liability issue. Oh well, there's always those good straight-a-ways on some of the less traveled highways here to test her out. affraid On the less dangerous side, we load up the kids in the backseat and hit the local A&W when the weathers warm. Nothing like crusin' with the kids on a warm summer night.

Take care all,
hrg

Hey Bear,
Do you ever catch some of the rockabilly acts up at Oneida?

Hey HR Girl,

Not a whole bunch of lounge acts, unfortunately. I was under the weather when Lee Rocker played there last fall. Here's who I have seen, in chronological order:

The Crickets, fall of '06. Great guys, very accommodating to fans. Drank Stroh's with them after the show (I didn't even know they still made that stuff!)

BSO, late November '06. Second row, dead center. Unbelievable. I wrote about it in the 'My First Concert' thread (it was my kids' first concert).

Rockin' 50s Fest, May '07. Saw Little Richard, the Crickets again, Big Sandy, Jason D. Williams. Our auto shop guy (I teach high school math and physics) is a big music fan with casino contacts, and was able to get Crash Justice to come over to the school to play at our annual spring car show. It was awesome.

Stray Cats, summer '07. Got there way early, watched the show from the front rail. I didn't get any stage-thrown souvenirs, but I'm pretty sure I was the only audience member to make physical contact - Slim Jim high-fived me!

So I have built up some good memories there in the past few years! (Sorry to everyone for posting off-topic. Hey HRG, maybe we should start a cheesehead thread (cheesethread?) where everybody else won't have to listen to us go on and on?)

2002 Cruiser, more chrome waiting to go on; but I'm open to suggestions. I'm trying to balance everyday car with cool. I'm not mechanical enough to have a real hot rod, so this is it for me.
By the time I'm done it will have classic plates.

Awwwww, I'm fine thanks, Wee-One! That was well over a year ago. I tell ya what; Chrysler builds them cars pretty solid!!! That was done by a Ford Explorer that just really had no intentions of stopping for a red light... no matter if I was sittin' there or not! I was sore for a few days, but felt no worse than after a Sunday or two that I spent at the Blue Comet! Of course I went right out bought myself another Crüiser... black 2006 one this time. Biggest shame about losin' the blue one is that it was the car that The Brian was in the day that I DIDN'T cry in front of him. Ahhhhhh... to relive my misspent yoof!!!

Didn't like it in the rear,
Budge

Hey Budgie,
I can't open the picture; but from the other comments it sounds like a nasty wreck. I'm glad you survived it well. I hope the 2006 is treating you well.
I had a similar experience in a Saturn wagon. It was 3 months old and I got hit from behind... stopped in traffic on the Triboro and a Chevy Blazer didn't see the traffic had stopped. The car was wrecked; but I didn't feel a thing. They do build them safer these days.
I was on my way home from Shea... my version of the Curse of the Babe!
Have you done anything with the 06? Aside from the chrome grille and hubcaps, I'm replacing my starter for the third time in one year...

The 06's came with a sort of chromed grille... I haven't done anything to it at all. I like it stock. Hey, I've got a 10 CD changer for the 02 that's been sitting around doin' a whole lot of nothing for the last 14 months!! Very easy to hook up and goes nicely under the driver seat!! If your radio is set up for the CD changer, and you'd like to take it off my hands... CHEAP... let me know!! They changed the radios for 05 or 06 and this wouldn't work on it. I like the old radio better. Except for the new ones having an aux jack right on the front, it pretty much sucks. I also had a subwoofer in the 02, but I wasn't getting that bad boy out without the jaws of life!! That stowed nicely in the little storage area on the driver side in the trunk.

Cruuuuuisin',

Oh, wow!!! Looking at the pic of the ol' Mötley Crüiser, I remembered that I did customize it a bit!!! I changed the reverse lights out only a week or two before it bit the dust... one of the original had broke and I ordered replacements off of ebay without realizing that they didn't match the originals... So my Crüiser was pretty much pimped out!!! Which would probably explain why it met such an untimely demise at the corner of Atlantic Avenue & Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn...

Pimpin' ain't easy,

Hey Budgie,
I'll have to pass on the CD changer... most of my driving is short distance these days - I'm lucky if I get 3 songs in from point A to B. I am intersted in finding a good iPOD interface; but haven't seen any real positive reviews just yet.
I saw on the Tommy birthday thread that you are heading to the Dominican Republic? My fiance is originally from there; I hear it is an incredibly beautiful place - enjoy the trip.
