| I'm gonna tread very carefuly here, but... does anyone else think that Bernie helped to form the BSO sound?
I have some very strong opinions about Bernie as a drummer. he broke a mold. To study Jazz and Swing when the world's drummers were concentrating on progressive stuff is just inciteful.
This thread - however short it;s responese - raises a glass to Bernie 'BSO' Dresel

| I'm a HUGE Bernie Dresel fan! Huge! He was truly a show within a show. I've never seen Tony play, but absolutely trust Brian's musical judgment. If Brian has faith in Tony, then we should too.
Miss you Bernie! Can't wait to see you play Tony.

. i agree, that´s the point. They know what to do... and my last information is, Bernie wanted to quit because of private things. by the way, is it Bernie at this 95 Show on DVD "one rockin night"? nice haircut, if yes...

Mikey xx I absolutely agree. Bernie did have a huge contribution to the BSO sound. It's like the magic that happens onstage when the Cats got back together. Each musician is talented in their own right, but that unexplainable chemistry that happens when they get together simply sends them out of the park. Bernie's an incredible drummer, and he brought his unique talents to the BSO (and in the "side" projects as well). I think he had a key role in the BSO, and I'm sure he is missed. But, I caught Tony w/ the BSO this winter, and he definitely did not disappoint. He's a very talented drummer as well, and has a great stage presence. He seemed to fit in well with the rest of the guys, and the laughs that were shared between him, Brian and Spazz during the trio set were quite genuine and fun to see. Here's to Bernie! hrg

| Bernie is the best. Tony is fine, but Bernie is .....well Bernie. Watching him attack his drums was a blast! I had heard he didn't tour during Christmas so he could be with his family. Got to respect that choice. I hope he still plays on the albums. | |

| I spoke with the sound engineer at Westbury, NY in the last BSO tour. He reckoned Bernie was a real driving force in getting the rest of the band hyped up. I am not sure the same chemistry was there for this tour, BUT, there were quite a few new faces in the line up weren't there? That said, I have to say that Tony was incredibly animated and the energy between him and Johnny H was unbelievable. I think he was a superb replacement for Bernie. They are both amazing drummers. Brian may have a job choosing who will do any future work! | |

| I hope Bernie and his family are ok. I love his way of playing drums and his style. I´m waiting for some Bso new dvd to see Mr. Pia, but I´m sure Brian Setzer will have taken the right decission to choose him. I´ve to say that Bernie is a very patien man and very nice with fans. I took a photo with him in Amsterdam while he was having meal, and he stopped eating for a moment and laughed with me 5 minutes. Thank you very much Bernie...and good luck Mr. Pia | |

| For those within driving distance of Universal Studios in the San Fernando Valley (Calif), Bernie is sitting in next Thursday night 2/21 at Vitellos Restaurant. It's a dinner show from 7:30 - 10:30. 1 or 2 other BSO members will also make an appearance, from what I understand................... | |

| Sorry if I offenda anyone and am only curious because I love the BSO and Bernies contribution, but I am alittle unclear as to why he split. Was it just simply sick of touring or somethnig else? I really don't want rumors just what was released by the BSO, that way no one feels slighted. Thanks in advance. | |

Ooooh, Scatman, that sounds wicked! Wish I could make it. If anyone in the area can make it, GO! It's good old rockabilly music and getting to witness Bernie play in a small place is a blast. He's so great! That other BSO member I've seen with the band ain't bad, either. Rock on, guys!

| Let me tell ya 2 things: 1) I used to (try to) play the guitar and sing with my former band. A couple of days ago, my best friend suggested we start a new band and I want to start learning the drums. Why? Bernie! This guy's such an inspiration! 2) I've been loving Stray Cats (no 'the'! ) ever since 1981 but when I hear the (or no 'the'? ) '68 Comeback Special, I can't help but wish they had recorded more and I'm not sure which band I would have liked better if they had. Because of Bernie. | |

| I felt the same about Mark Winchester but then Hatton came in blew me away just as much. Finding the next BSO member is like finding the next James Bond, you can't imagine whoe can fill in the shoes next but they always find someone awesome. | |
