Shocked I can't believe it! An early Christmas present!!!!! cheers I just saw the new dates and I said to myself, "Self, I didn't think there was a House of Blues in Houston?" Apparently by the time Brian brings his orchestra to Texas there will be! It is opening in October. I'm sure there are other great venues but I have seen numerous concerts at HOB in New Orleans and it really is a great place to see a performance. In addition to Rockabilly I also like blues and have seen Buddy Guy and Eric Clapton there. It is a great venue despite the floor being opne and no reserved seating. It will be a great place to see BSO and it is three hours closer than Austin for me. Now I'm realy pumped. Heck, He may even squeeze a date in at HOB in New Orleans!

PostSubject: When will BSO tour in Europe?   Tue Apr 15, 2008 12:41 pm

Im really exited about the fact that I`ll get to see Stray Cats once again when they`ll do their Farewell tour in Europe and they`ll stop here in Finland as well but when I get to see The Brian Setzer Orchestra in Helsinki?Im pretty sure that those tickets would go fast.
My friend told me that BSO visited once in Finland(Porijazz??)sometimes in the early of BSO`s career(back in the 90`s) but since we haven`t had the chance to see this orchestra again Crying or Very sad

Welcome to the board, Janne!

Very cool that you're seeing Stray Cats this summer. Brian has stated numerous times over the years that it is too costly these days to tour Europe with such a large band. And there's no way he'd drag the orchestra over there just to play in one European country. The Christmas Extravaganza has really built up quite a bit of momentum in the US, playing to more sold-out venues each year. But the US dollar is so weak abroad, and travel is so expensive, that touring with that large of a group would be a massive undertaking. Maybe if the BSO were selling 10 million albums a year, they'd consider it.

On the other hand, foreign currency has never been stronger over here for foreigners. Perhaps it's time for you to book a flight to the US and see them this winter. As Brian once said, "You have to go to the mountain. The mountain will not come to you."

Unless you're extremely wealthy. Then, perhaps they'd entertain the idea of a private one-off gig in Finland. For an extreme amount of money, to cover cost of rehearsals, all the musicians, crew, travel, lodging, bar tab, food, lutefisk (oops, sorry, that's Norwegian), arena, a chartered flight, special transport for the jukebox amp, and other miscellaneous expenses - ticket for Rickabilly. And if that's the case...

Can I be your friend?
