I AM WORRIED ;(

hi guys ! , i have only just registered on the forum but have been a stray cats fan for many years , just wanted to introduce myself and say hello ! , i know this may be a strange first post but i have this problem , over the last few years i have been piling the weight on and now with the cats doing this farewell tour i decided to go back to my youth a bit and have bought myself a rockabilly bowling shirt and a pair of red creepers , they do look cool in my opinion but because i have lost a lot of confidence since the weight gain i now don't know if i have the nerve to wear them and draw even more attention to myself ! , i have a rockabilly festival ( americana) and also the cats gig in manchester coming up and trying to decide if i should wear the stuff any advice please ?

I say wear it! Im mid-40's and a little plump myself & I wear my creepers, mary janes, TUKs, and Rockabilly stuff all the time. There may be someone there in the same situation wearing their regular clothes and thinking "Man, that guy wore his stuff, & should've worn mine". Screw anyone who doesn't like it, you wearing it for yourself, not anyone else. Enjoy the show! Can't wait to see them here!

Are you going to the Manchester GIG!! If so my family and I will meet you there. I am quite a big built bloke ( a lot of sloppy muscle from years of weight lifting "no Kidding",but I have got a gut. )
I'm gonna wear a leather waist coat and bandana Ive bought just for the GIG,so dont be shy,we can all have FUN!! together.Dont worry about the weight thing,most Stray Cats fans in thier 40's 50's have a bit of middle age spread. Just put it down to GOOD LIVING!!!

Now, if you must know, I'm somehow glad the Cats are doing a farewell tour right now because I'm losing my hair. A couple years more and I'd go to a rockabilly gig looking like doctor Phil.

I don't really care too much what other people think about the stuffs I'm wearing. I wear lots of 50's clothes because I like the way they are, and because they're rare and absolutely awesome. Yeah, 45 out of 50 people thinks it's strange, but be honest- and Im not a teenager(36) anymore-..WHO CARES? Nothing else better than be yourself, and live your life the way you want to.

Listen here young Hoop, most of us are the same now. At 42 I'm no longer playing football, dodgy ankles and knees (all those years of goalkeeping) the weight has piled on alright, and how but it hasn't stopped me wearing my creepers, turned up jeans etc. I'm a Rockabilly, I made that choice coz I like that music and the clothes/hair/style that goes with it. I have began to lose weight, a decision I made myself, not pressure form others or what others thought. Be yourself wear what you want. Remember The Polecats?

Alot of us Cats here,are putting on weight,since i meet Brian,i have put on at least a stone and a half! Partly due to the medication i now have to take,but hae,not been back to hospital since.

i don't think you can waste time worrying what others think -I'm 47 and bald but am still the same 'rockabilly guy' that I was in the late 70's!

I'll be at Manchester - but as I expect to be fighting for a spare inch at front of stage I'm just wearing stuff that I don't really care about getting trampled on etc!

Alright since everyone's in agreement that you should wear your rockabilly threads I think some pictures need to be posted.

I think youd draw more attention if you didn't go with the bowling shirt and creepers! My creepers are leopard, to match one of my bowlers!

Mate, wear whatever makes you feel good, i may turn up to a Cats show in PJ's one day...lol

My Six Pack seemed uneconomical: (so I got rid of it and got me a big bad barrel Instead)
