| Gene Vincent, Bill Haley, Buddy Holly, Frank Sinatra, Louis Prima, Bobby Darin, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline... too many to mention.
Very early 50's but more in the 40's- Louis Jordan and Wynonie Harris.
I hate radio. | |

| Elvis, Eddie Cochran, Johnny Burnette Rock 'n' Roll Trio, Bill Haley, And that's just for rockabilly, I dig all that swing, jazz, crooner, pop stuff a lot too. Actually, just about anything from the 50's will do it for me.
That said, I must be the only one but I've never been crazy about Chuck Berry (so many of his songs sound so similar... or is it just me?) and Jerry Lee Lewis (never liked the piano in rock 'n' roll music, feels out of place. I know, that's just me!). I do like some of their songs but I'd never buy 4 cd boxsets for instance. A couple of classics are enough. | |

| a lot of you guys have mentioned the greats which go without saying, over this side of the water though there was a great singer by the name of Billy Fury who doesn't get half as much credit as he deserves.... unfortunatly he had a bad heart and couldn't do much touring, hense the lack of fame in america....anyways would have loved to have seen him play live, not to be though as like all the greats hes no longer around, still i can listen to his music and imagine, if you like all the 50's music you should definately check him out it'l be well worth it | |

| I concur with pretty much all of the above...except that no one mentioned Little Richard. The guy's STILL got a great voice and can abuse the hell out of his keyboard. | |

| Buddy Holly's my favorite from the 50's. Elvis would be my #2 (sorry Gloria!). Then the Killer, then Carl Perkins. Rounding out my top five is Eddie Cochran. | |

| Billy Fury, isn't he in that movie with Ringo? And isn't Esquirita the one who taught little Richard. And...and...Laurie and Larry Collins, the girl with the great big voice and little brother with that big ole double neck! A-N-D what would Loui Prima be without Keely Smith. They could stop making new music today and there would still be enough old stuff to discover to last me 'til I die, of this I am sure. | |
