I just bought Thunder Road and Anatomy of a Murder a couple of days ago and was wondering if people on here like those old movies.

Of course I own some classics: The Wild One, Rebel Without a Cause, The Girl Can't Help It, Hitchcock's Rear Window (a fave of mine), Rope and Vertigo, etc.

But I also happen to like low budget stuff like Dragstrip Girl, Machine Gun Kelly and the like.

What about you?

OHH YES!! Anatomy of a Murder is one of my all time favorite movies cheers . It's soo well done, I must have watched it thousands of times and I can never get tired of it!! Anything Carey Grant is good and all Dead End Kids movies are classics. Love A Wonderful Life, too and the original Scrooge. The Ghost and Mrs. Muir is really a Classic, too, and one of my favorites. afro

Don't Knock the Rock, Rock Around the Clock, Rock Rock Rock, The Girl Can't Help It, Blackboard Jungle... you get the idea Wink

Here's something I posted to Metafilter last year about another fantastic movie I found, that was compiled from performances of an old TV show called "Harlem Variety Revue:
http://www.metafilter.com/62144/A-variety-of-talent-both-well-known-and-forgotten

REALLY great stuff.

I also really like "Man With The Golden Arm" and "Guys and Dolls". I'm sure I'll think of others.

I believe I do, yes Smile I've never seen the first three you mentioned though, they all feature Bill Haley and his Comets, right?

Yes, excellent! Btw, did you notice about the music over the opening credits? Familiar? Wink

Another one I like a lot is The Woman in the Window, I love those old film noir from the 40's and 50's.
Keep the suggestions coming people!

OH so many lol.
LOVE Hitchcock movies, as well as Twilight Zone. What a Face
Mr. Blandings Builds His Dreamhouse, To Kill A Mockingbird and many many more.
Don't know if The Breakfast Club qualifies as old but it's one of my faves.

Indeed, along with some truly outstanding dancing. Years ago my dance partner and I spent many weeks learning a few of the moves from this clip:

I have a lot of respect for people who can lindy hop well, it really is a joy to watch.

"Arsenic & Old Lace" and "Rear Window" are a couple faves. Of course there's always "Casablanca" ("Reeeck, oh Reeeeck...."); and "Gone With The Wind."
If "The Breakfast Club" counts as an oldie, then I guess I'm gonna have to throw "Smokey & the Bandit" up here too. ("The first thing I'm gonna do when I get home is smack your momma....")
p.s. I'm horrible at quoting movies, sorry! geek

Two of my favorite "old" movies are The Glass Bottom Boat, with Doris Day, and To Each His Own, with Olivia de Havilland.

Sometimes a little comedy after a good tear-jurker is a great combination!

A few old movies I always watch again and again and never get sick of:

THE JOLSON STORY & JOLSON SINGS AGAIN I've got them on one DVD so I can watch it as one long movie Very Happy

The other old favourite is PICNIC with William Holden, great movie!

Any Elvis movie pre Army especially King Creole, though must admit I do like a few of the post army movies as well..

Cheers
