| The best Setzer song ever to me: "Chains around your heart". Everything is right on that song. Did you guys listen to the drums? I hardly hear any crash cymbal. You expect a crash now and then, but I don't hear any. Anyone else dig this song? | |

| Yeah, I'm not a drummer (maybe if I used one tentacle for each drumstick (lol)), but you're right that is a great song. The orchestration of that tune is really well done, maybe even foreshadowing some of the later Stray Cats/BSO stuff that was to follow. A lot of the early jazz drummers primarily used only their right hand on the ride cymbal, making the "tick-a-ting" rhythm very prominent. No offense, however, as I think we've had this discussion before, but, personally, my favorite is still "Boulevard of Broken Dreams". | |

| the drummer on the album (and I assume that track) is Kenny Aronoff http://www.kennyaronoff.com/ He made his name with Mellencamp; but has since worked with every worthwhile act on the planet. I met him when he was touring with Marshall Crenshaw. I'll spare the details; but I hung with him through a mutual friend for a weekend of shows. Amazing talent and one of the most high energy, possitive people you could ever meet. Real good guy; and he works/practices his tail off. | |

| I'm really pleased someone knows the musicians who played with Brian. i guess they're all hired help at the time, but there are some great players he's worked with. Jerry Angel played on a few tracks on the Live Nude Guitars album. I'd have loved to Brian to have used Liberty DeVito on some things back then. Whenever i watch Billy Joel live vids, i love Liberty's style and it would have fitted perfectly with Knife Feels like justice (just an opinion and no offence to KA)

| Hey, yup, I'm a drummer myself to and to be honest, I don't like the drumming style on The Knife... the live shows were much better. I think the drummer, Kenny Aronoff played too much on that album, I mean, to many "notes" (if we can call it that way)
Bernie Dresel was the best drummer S-e-t-z-e-r ever had and I hope he's soon back with more S-e-t-z-e-r projects |
