| We all had a rough time getting back to the East Coast with storms and flight delays. I know Budge sat on the runway for a long time and after a time delay, with a concourse and gate change, and then a runway delay, we were set to take-off until the announcement came that the plane had a weight distribution problem and we had to head to a "runway penalty box." I swear they make this stuff up to entertain themselves. And if that wasn't bad enough, I left the airport in a torrential downpour with thunder and lightning only to get on the highway going North instead of South. I didn't even realize it till I saw the "Welcome to Massachusetts" signs. Well! One can only imagine the expletives I unleashed.
But all is well that ends well and I'm glad I can rest up before the Cats (hopefully) roll around again.

| Home safely after THE kookiest day I have ever spent travelling....more crazy than the day I was flying into Heathrow and was diverted to Manchester because the IRA tried to blow-up a runway. If I had the choice, I'd never fly again. It's become a total pain in the arse.
HOWEVER.....the Cats show at the Pacific Amphitheatre made it all worth it.
PHOTOS later today. Gotta kiss my kids and have some coffee first.
Great seeing all my friends in Cally. (Notably PeteyCat, Scatman, Glo, Pink Pirate Kitty and Charlie and his grgeous Vixen wife!)

| I made it home... landed at 1:45am this morning... originally scheduled to come in at 8:30pm last night. Too pooped to even go into details! What a great whirl-wind first time in Cali! The difficulties getting home didn't take anything away from the trip at all. T'was a pleasure finally meeting longtime "online" pals Scatman Alex & PeteyCat Joe. Thanks for being fantastical hosts! To The Brian, thanks for explaining Tommy's bizzarre "glove" obsession to me... though I still find it quite disturbing. Great seeing you and the Mrs. and her kin-folk. (See who's 1-st in the NL East as of today?) Leslie & her huband Charlie are about the coolest Southern California has to offer! (Though it figures that Leslie waited until I was awake for about 22 straight hours before she decided that she wanted to fight me... PUNK!!) Nice to get to chat with Mrs. & Mr. PirateKitty, albiet brief. Bath Ann, thank you for the cookies! You saved me a buck-twenty five at the McDonald's in O'Hare!! Hey Gloria! Sorry we didn't get a chance to properly meet!! Tommy... you promised me pink cotton candy. I never got pink cotton candy. I'll remember that.
Missin' the OC weather (though it's actually fairly pleasant tonight here in NY), Budgie

You're caught up? I'm still dragging around in a post-concert funk trying to remember what my purpose in life is again. I'll figure it out. Thanks again for the brewski at O'Hare, Budge Light. I'll trade cookies for beer anytime.

Thanks again for the brewski at O'Hare, Budge Light. I'll trade cookies for beer anytime. Your new purpose in life will be hoping for a US tour that has been hinted

- the have it at Outback Steakhouse
< threadjack > That reminds me of the first time I took my husband there, shortly after he arrived in the States from Australia and still had quite a thick accent. He asked for a beer (a beeah) and the waitress looked at him blankly. I translated. They only had Fosters (which Dean calls horse piss) and Redback, which was a very pleasant surprise. He also asked for a works burger, which in Australia includes pineapple, beetroot and a fried egg. When he explained this they thought he had two heads. He did manage to get the fried egg, but the other two they didn't even have and couldn't believe anyone would put on a hamburger. After that every time we went to the Outback Steakhouse he'd ask for egg on his burger, and every time they thought he was a bit bizarre- but he got it. His workmates used to give him shit about works burgers until one of them decided to have a party and BBQed up some burgers, giving everyone the option of having the works - beetroot, pineapple and egg included - and everyone loved it. He coulda made a mint opening a real Australian restaurant! Oh and bloomin' onions? Nothing Australian about 'em. And if you see "Australian battered potatoes at the fair? They're not Australian either. Us Americans have weird ideas about Australia. < /threadjack>

| Haha Andi I was just about to comment about 'Outback Steakhouse' but you beat me to it Hardly no one drinks Fosters anymore, it's not even Australian owned.. neither is Vegemite.. The only thing that makes 'Bloomin Onions' Australian is the name and we haven't used the term 'bloomin' since before I was born.. How come every American I talk to comments about the 'dingo ate my baby' thing.. WHY?!! I will say this though, once I was talking to an American man and he said I spoke really good English for an Australian.. he thought Australians spoke a different language Okay, you can have your thread back now. Kid. | |
