Have I missed something here? Or is this post designed to see how long we can carry on meaningless thread?

BTW does this thing have a spell check in it?

It could be, but I hope not. So many message boards drift off into meaningless dreck to the point where the theme of the board is all but lost.

I doubt there's a spell check feature on here, although your browser might employ one. For example, I have no problem typing "burnt auto cat," but "berndt ottokatt" is right out, according to my spell check. (Was that the "B" word you decided to delete, onefin?")

Even if there were spell check, it wouldn't save us from those annoying "your vs. you're" errors.

"Your funny."

"My funny what?"

Exactly.

At the Aspen BSO show, us regular folk had normal-sized tickets that were printed free from typographical errors. However, the big spenders - the ones with the $1500 tickets that were "super-sized" - featured the headlining act of the "BRAIN SETZER ORCHESTRA."

Believe me, PPK, it's not just you. And I believe most of those errors are by others who just don't know the difference. In this text-messaging world, proper use of the written word is on the decline. At the same time, I don't feel anyone should ever feel intimidated or restricted in expressing themselves. If I'm annoyed by the "to funnys" and "your welcomes" of the world, then that's my problem. I'm amazed at how well all the non-native English speakers communicate on this board. And the Australians! lol!

Carry on,

Hello,

one question about the word "Dreck":
is the meaning in US-English "Dirt"?
Because this is a German word (and the meaning IS Dirt).

Global greetings

Brett

dreck -
ľnoun Slang.
1. excrement; dung.
2. worthless trash; junk.

So dirt would be an improvement.

Stan

ah, okay.
In german it means dirt, not dung or something like that.
So our meaning is a little nicer... What a Face

Thanks

You're right, RenÚ, I really shouldn't pick on the Australians. This IS the Australian Brian Setzer Forum. Far and away the biggest contributors to the discussion in most topics here are Australia-based. It's an Aussie world 'round here, and we're just livin' in it! (And quite happily, I might add)
