Recommend Tuners for My 5120 Empty
PostSubject: Recommend Tuners for My 5120   Recommend Tuners for My 5120 EmptySat Jul 19, 2008 9:59 am

Can anyone recommend a particular set of tuners for my 5120? I looked into some before, but I would have to do some mods to the headstock (which I don't want to do). I was hoping for a simple swap.
Also, any suggestions for a bridge? I read in another forum that the roller bridges affects the tone. Is this true? Is there any advantage to a roller bridge vs the standard bridge?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I installed Planet Waves Trim-lok tuners. These are the cat's meow, brother. Insert the string end, tighten the clamp knob, tune to pitch and the string gets clipped off in the process. Greatest invention since sliced bread! They were designed, I think, by Ned Steinberg, a genius on many levels.
Caution: You need to modify the headstock for them to fit as the stock tuner bore diameters are slightly less than the PW's. I also replaced the bridge with roller style one as the stock bridge would not stay in tune with use of the Bigsby. I did not pin the base as I was unsure how to do it properly, so if anyone has some tips there, I'd be open to hearing, or reading, them!
