| Hey folks, I saw the GMO last night in Vancouver and let me tell you they put on a great show! If you like big band music I would highly recommend you go and see them. Obviously it is not the original orchestra, but there was a good mix of some young guys and some veterans in the band. They played an old school set of Miller classics and a couple Benny Goodman tunes and one Ellington song. They also have a couple of vocalists travelling with them....the woman is not too bad a singer (Julie Rich is her name I think) but they have a young guy singing as well and he was channeling Sinatra big time and he was great. Well worth the ticket price at twice what they were.
Not to mention it helps support big band music like our dear friend puts out....

Glad you enjoyed the Ben Stiller band. I saw Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen and was ever so slightly underimpressed>>> I would have loved to have witnessed Billy May and his orchestra. they were the bad boys of the fifties. go get 'em Billy Mikey <<sittin' on top of the world>> Strafford xx

| I got a chance to see them here almost 10 years ago and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Moonlight Serenade is one of my favorite songs of all time and the GMO are one of my favorite bands of that era. I also recommend checking them out if they come to your town.

| We got a chance to see GMO live for FREE in our little town here in WI, a couple of years back. Our town hosts live bands in the park during the summertime, and one of the big wigs here in town sponsored the show to bring them in. What a great night. My hubby and I danced the whole night, and even had a couple of people asking if we traveled with the band! I was flattered...honestly, it's the hubby's solid leading that makes us look so good. But anyway...I agree. Go see 'em if you get a chance. A fun night out for sure. Take care! hrg | |

| I would love to see them. Long story short, when I was a wee tot Glenn Miller's brother was my Dentist. He lived in Greeley CO across the street from my Grandparents.. Dr. Miller loved trains and his entire basement was set up with model trains, scenery ect. About 10 years ago Hubby bought me a Lionel train...he always knew how much I loved the idea. Ours is just on a large table but maybe someday I will build an addition to the house for my trains lol. | |
