PostSubject: Blast Off! CD cover   Blast Off! CD cover EmptyMon May 19, 2008 12:19 pm

I'm listening to Blast Off! and got a question about the cover. Usually, there is a wooden background but my copy has a tiger background (yellow with black stripes). Anyone can explain this?

If my memory served me correctly Slim Jim Phantom said in an interview for German youth magazine "BRAVO" that it has been a missprint of 20.000 copies which will become a collector's piece...how right he was.

Well uhhh... I think I have it... I just woke up and am having trouble distinguishing between wood and tiger print....

The bottom shot that Kid posted is the standard UK pressing, right? I have to admit that I have never heard the "missprint" story before. Very interesting!

Thanks for starting this thread Ufopsi.
Of course I had to check my covers, one of each(vinyl). BUT when I took the one copy something fell out of the cover, low and behold Shocked an extra copy of the "Sexy & 17" shaped picture disc - didn't even know I had it. cheers

The Yellow and grey tiger is the standard Uk copy, and i thought that the other colour/color was the US copy.
The new re-issue has the later.
Blast-off.

When "Blast Off!" came out back in 1989 in Germany you could only get the "yellow" cover . But a few month later you couldn't get it anymore and the record stores had only the "wooden" cover. I have both of them and both are made in Holland.

In the begining (when I did not know about the "wooden" cover) I always thought the yellow one would be the right one altough the backside looked a bit unfinish to me. Even the tour promoters used the yellow background for the ads in magazines.

Later on I saw - for the very first time - the wooden cover as CD format and I bought it because I didn't had it yet...at this time I did not have any CD-player...but my second Stray Cats-CD.

Later on I read that article in a music magazine about the Stray Cats reunion which included parts of a Slim Jim Phantom interview and it goes:

"...in June the Stray Cats will play German stages again. Until then you have to listen to their album BLAST OFF!. Special gimmick: The first 20.000 copies has been delivered in a "wrong" cover which has been used by mistake und that doesn't have the right color combination."
