| Hey Steve, Richard Hawley is amazing. Live, Studio and over burritos in the dressing room. He's coming with me to all of the Cats' UK dates. He's a top cat. He's like the Sheffield version of that Brother of mine with the big orange guitar. See him every chance you get. Richard just may be THE biggest Setzer fan in all of the UK. Serious.

| Thanks for that Tommy, yes,I'd gathered you were a bit of a fan!
Well,I shall indeed be proudly wearing a Setzer T shirt to the show.I'll let you know if he spots it. Does he rock it up any live or is it mainly the slower paced material?

| Steve, Mainly slower material, but I'll tell you something.........I've seen Richard rock-out. He's more than capable of letting 'er rip! If you run into Sheffield's Finest, tell him hello from me.
Take care mate, Tommy | |

| RH's writing style somehow reminds me of Roy Orbison. Lots of feeling, nice tunes. | |

| If any Irish folks are listening Richard Hawley plays the Earigal Arts fest in Letterkenny Donegal on Sunday 13th July, should be a good gig, worth seeing! | |

| Wow! I have to admit I was apprehensive about this gig but Richard Hawley blew me away last night. An amazing, masterful performance from a great band. For anyone that's not heard his music, have a little search but for anyone unsure like I was if you get the chance then go see this guy. He asked "Does anyone like Rockabilly?" before launching into Serious, but even the slower material was mesmerising. There's a real haunting sound to his music.I will definately go again.
And as for the banter...Richard could be on stage as a comedian as well. For example...."It's OK if you don't visit the merchandise stall after the gig.....but I'll just have to go home and tell my daughter she can't have that life saving operation" And introducing the band..."And my name's Susan,I'm a cross dresser from Leicester"...to which some wit in the crowd replied "Aren't they all?"

| Going off topic slightly but there's an interesting documentary available to download on BBC Radio 2's website about Sheffield at the moment. Basically Jarvis Cocker takes you on an intimate tour of his hometown, recalling his childhood, the effects of big industry, the spirit of the Sheffield people, leaving Sheffield and his musical influences. Unfortunatley RH doesn't get a mention but it's an amusing insight into "Steel City".......... http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/ ("Musical Map of Sheffield with Jarvis Cocker" link half way down the page on the right hand side.) | |
