I tried to work it out last weekend, it's not 100% accurate, but at least very close to the original.
Ok, The basic part is just thatswing rhythm that you play in in GMin, it sounds very good if you slide that chord up from the second fret, so you first got F#Min, and than the G Min. Than there are those Breaks when he sings "..every time I hear that wild saxophone.." They're D#7 and than D7, they sound best if you play them like an open B but in the 6th and 5th fret.

The Riff the Saxophone is playing is like this:
D--------------------------------------------5------------------------------------------------------------
A-----------------------------5-------------------5-----------5-------3----------------------------------
E----6------------3-----------------6--------------------6---------------------6-----------3-------------

And than there's this part about that I'm not sure, I think it starts with an G7, than a C7, and than a D7???
But I'm quite sure about that break, it's a simple walking bass in D

G-------------------------------4------5------4------------------------------------------------------------
D--------------4-------7-----------------------------7-------4---------------------------------------------
A--------5---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
E-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Perhaps soeone can correct it (Davy Jones?)

Hope this has helped you a bit

Paul

Ye be needin' the Captain, eh? pirat

Here's a link to an older post about this song that I commented on. Note also that the solo is sort of in the "Steely Dan" style (features gtr. licks similar to songs like "Do It Again") ala other Cats and BSO cover tunes like Lust N Love and Bodhisattva (originally a Steely Dan song).

Webelvis,

I've never tried to work out the sax part for this song, but what you have looks good. I'm not a horn player, but I have tried from time to time to work out some of the orchestra runs, (i.e. the part in My Baby Only Cares for Me after the gtr. solo), but depending on the type of sax played, the range of notes on the guitar for transcribing the part will vary. Below is a general instrument range chart for saxes (woodwinds).

Woodwinds:
Soprano: (Treble Clef: Concert Key Bb, Written Key C), Concert Range: Ab3-Cb6, Written Range: Bb3-F6
Alto Saxophone: (Treble Clef: Concert Key Eb, Written Key C), Concert Range: Db3-Ab5 (or A5), Written Range: Bb3-F6 (or F#6)
Tenor Saxophone: (Treble Clef: Concert Key Bb, Written Key C) Concert Range: Ab3-Eb5 (or E5), Written Range: Bb3-F6 (or F#6)
Baritone Saxophone: (Treble Clef: Concert Key Eb, Written Key C) Concert Range: C2-Ab4 (or A4), Written Range: Bb3-F6 (or F#6)

For the break, are you talking about the "I wanna rock, rock, rock" vocal? If so that's the bridge (B) section of the AABA format which this song has. I forget the chords for this part on "Mellow", but I think it was something like Ab9 or Ab13 - Db9 - Eb13, which would match up with your G7-C7-D7 for "Wild", since "Wild" is a half-step down from "Mellow".

Hope this be of some help to ye'.

P.S. Been working out the final touches for A.S.A.I.S. and H.N., but maybe in the future I'll try and fully transcribe the solo for Wild.

Yep, that's the part I meant!
I'll try those Chords later today!
