- Hi all.
I'd like your opinions on this:
I can get a secondhand Setzer 6120SSL (love the colour) for around $2500 USD (excluding any duties) delivered to my door. Apparently the guitar has no signs of wear etc. I don't know the year, but it's Jananese made (duh). Is this a good price? Definitely beats paying around $4500 for a new one.
Just found out the year of the guitar is 2007.
Thanks everyone.
Regards,
René Hey all. My Gretsch just arrived!!! It's the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen!!! It turned out to be a 2008 125th Anniversary guitar, not a 2007. It's totally perfect. Yesterday I ordered myself a Line 6 Spider III 15 watt practise amp. The journey begins. I wasn't going to share before in case someone pinched the guitar (I hope you understand, sorry Doesy), but here is where I got it: Rocky Street Sounds They even threw in a genuine Gretsch leather strap. Thanks everyone for you're input, guidance and encouragement. Regards, René

| Is this the one you got G6120SSL Not the.....
MODEL NAME | G6120SSLVO, Brian Setzer (Thin Nitrocellulose Lacquer Finish) | What is the difference on the finish from the G6120SSL to the G6120SSLVO (Thin Nitrocellulose Lacquer Finish) what kind of finish does the G6120SSL have Standard Lacquer? One website says and I quote Available in either Orange Tiger Flame Laquer (SSL) or Vintage Orange Lacquer (SSLVO) are both models (Thin Nitrocellulose Lacquer Finish) I hear the need special care??

| The SSL should have an urethane finish, like most of all modern guitars. Cheap, non-toxic and durable - just the opposite of nitrocellulose.
And yes, nitros need special care, e.g. do not put them on a normal foam covered guitar stand. The "softeners" in the foam will destroy the finish.

Hey onefin. Yep, the SSL is the one I got. I wasn't worried about the coating (didn't actually know what's what ), just the colour. All I know is from the website: - Quote :
- Orange Tiger Flame Laquer
It does say as you noted Thin Nitrocellulose Lacquer. I'm not sure if that's for both the SSL and SSLVO. I guess it's for both. I will find out and let you know. René

| My .02 cents is to have a teacher. A beginner's teacher. You'll be amazed how it's easier to play once he points your weaknesses.
Go ahead. You won't regret it.

| Does it have the 125th Anniversary Decal on the back of the headstock? Can we see some pictures of the actual guitar? I got mine last month, expecting a 2008 but its actually a 2006. I was told that there was no difference between the 06s and 08s, but I'm still wondering if they have the plaque on the head. Thats what I'm talking about if it wasn't clear | |

Hey Tak-abilly. Yes, I have the 2008 and it does have the 125th Decal on the back headstock. I wasn't expecting to see it and was very suprised when I did. I will take some pics tonight and post tomorrow morning. Any pic you want in particular? René
